Uptime & Performance

What uptime guarantee does NGP Hosts provide?

We strive for 99.5% uptime, but as a free service, we cannot guarantee this. Please refer to our Uptime Policy for detailed information about what happens during outages and any compensation (if applicable).

Important: Scheduled maintenance may cause brief downtime. We announce major maintenance 48 hours in advance via Discord.

Can I expect my server to be online 24/7?

We work hard to keep servers online, but unexpected issues can occur. As a free service, NGP Hosts cannot guarantee 24/7 availability. For mission-critical applications, consider a paid hosting provider.

What happens during downtime?

Downtime is reported in our Discord. We work to restore service as quickly as possible. Extended outages may be due to:

  • Hardware failures
  • Network issues
  • Software updates
  • DDoS mitigation
  • Security incidents

No compensation is guaranteed during downtime on a free service.

Data & Backups

Who is responsible for data backups?

You are solely responsible for maintaining backups of your data. While we provide backup slots, we cannot guarantee their integrity or permanence.

Recommendations:

  • Create backups weekly or after major changes
  • Download backups and store them on your computer
  • Use cloud storage for additional redundancy
  • Test restore procedures regularly

Can NGP Hosts recover my lost data?

No. NGP Hosts is not responsible for data loss. We do not provide data recovery services. Once data is deleted, it cannot be recovered.

To prevent data loss:

  • Maintain regular backups
  • Download backups to external storage
  • Never rely solely on NGP Hosts for critical data

How many backup slots can I have?

Backup slots scale with your tier:

  • 5 invites: 1 backup slot
  • 10 invites: 2 backup slots
  • 15 invites: 3 backup slots
  • 20 invites: 4 backup slots
  • 30 invites: 6 backup slots
  • 50 invites: 7 backup slots
  • 100 invites: 9 backup slots

Remember: You must use these slots regularly. They do not provide automatic protection.

Invite System

How does the invite system work?

Share your unique referral link with friends. When they:

  1. Sign up using your link
  2. Verify their Discord account
  3. Complete their profile (7+ days old)
  4. Your invite count increases by 1

Automatic resource upgrades unlock at 5, 10, 15, 20, 30, 50, and 100 invites. No manual requests needed.

How are invites validated?

We validate invites to prevent abuse:

  • Referred account must be 7+ days old
  • Discord verification required
  • Account must be active (not suspended)
  • No multi-accounting or fraud
  • IP address checks for abuse

Warning: Attempts to game the system will result in permanent account termination.

What happens if my invites drop below the tier requirement?

If your invite count drops (due to referred accounts being deleted), your resources scale down to match. For example:

  • You had 30 invites (24GB RAM)
  • 10 accounts get deleted → 20 invites remain
  • Resources downgrade to 16GB RAM (20-invite tier)

This happens automatically. Plan accordingly and keep invites active.

Can I get refunded if I can't reach the next tier?

NGP Hosts is completely free. There are no charges to refund. However, if you have concerns about your account, contact support.

Upgrades & Resources

How do resource upgrades work?

Upgrades are automatic and free:

  1. System tracks your invite count
  2. When you reach 5, 10, 15, 20, 30, 50, or 100 invites
  3. Resources upgrade automatically (within 24 hours)
  4. You receive notification in Discord

No cost, no manual request, no approval needed. Completely automatic.

What resources scale with invites?

All major resources scale proportionally:

  • RAM: 4GB → 64GB
  • CPU: 100% → 650%
  • Disk: 10GB → 120GB
  • Backup Slots: 1 → 9
  • Secondary IPs: 1 → 9

Can I request a manual upgrade?

No. Upgrades are tied to your invite count only. The system automatically detects when you reach each tier. If you believe there's an error, contact support with proof of invites.

What does CPU percentage mean?

CPU is expressed as a percentage of available cores:

  • 100% = 1 full CPU core
  • 150% = 1.5 cores
  • 200% = 2 cores
  • 300% = 3 cores
  • 650% = 6.5 cores

More CPU = better performance, especially with many plugins and players.

How do I get support?

Response time: Usually within 24 hours during business hours.

Can I install plugins or mods?

Plugins: Yes - Full support for Bukkit, Spigot, Paper, and Purpur plugins.

Mods: Depends - Forge/Fabric may require additional resources. Check documentation or ask support.

What game versions are supported?

We support all modern Minecraft Java Edition versions:

  • Latest stable version (recommended)
  • Previous LTS versions
  • Legacy versions (1.8, 1.12, etc.)

Abuse & Policies

What is not allowed on NGP Hosts?

Prohibited activities:

  • Illegal content or services
  • Harassment, hate speech, discrimination
  • Child exploitation (zero tolerance)
  • DDoS attacks or hacking
  • Malware or exploits
  • Spam or flooding
  • Invite fraud or multi-accounting
  • Commercial copyright infringement

Violations result in permanent termination. See Abuse Policy for details.

What happens if my server is hacked?

Immediate steps:

  1. Change your account password
  2. Review your server's recent backups
  3. Restore from a clean backup if needed
  4. Contact support with details

NGP Hosts is not responsible for hack damage. Use strong passwords and enable Discord verification.

Can I migrate my server from another host?

Yes! Follow these steps:

  1. Export world and configuration from old host
  2. Create new server on NGP Hosts
  3. Upload world files via SFTP or file manager
  4. Restart server

What happens to inactive accounts?

Inactive for 30+ days: Accounts may be suspended.

Why? To free resources for active users.

Prevention: Log in at least monthly or enable auto-restart.
